DNess, May 19, 2002 at 9:52:07 AM EST UTC Drupelets In the (seemingly) eternal search to get things `named' properly, we are switching from squibs to drupelets, ... Link Saturday, 4. May 2002
DNess, May 4, 2002 at 10:23:14 AM EST UTC Userland Experiment The Userland experiment has been terminated. By in large it was a failure. While cheap enough, Userland still doesn't seem to be worth it even at $3/month. ... Link Wednesday, 1. May 2002
DNess, May 1, 2002 at 3:48:55 PM EST UTC The ADM Outliner This proved to be a False Alarm. At the moment, this product doesn't have any ASCII import/export facility, and this is regarded as a deal breaker. Project staff indicated that they will develop something in this direction in a 6 to 9 month framework, but that is obviously too long to be of any immediate value for our purposes. The product referred to here is the ADM Outliner appeared, at least at first glance, to be substantially superior to Radio Userland's Outlining facilities. Although they are designed to solve somewhat different problems, the ADM approach seems distinctly superior to me. However, for the reasons indicated above this has been dropped from immediate consideration. ... Link Monday, 29. April 2002

DNess, April 16, 2002 at 8:07:54 AM EST UTC The `Naked Objects' Project There is a tantalizing effort described at Naked Objects that offers a tantalizing---and different---approach to some aspects of the design of systems which interact with users. Pawson and Matthews have a nice Introduction to their material, which is worth reading. The work described is preliminary, and the implementation seems a bit slow, but the idea also seems good enough to be worth looking at. ... Link Friday, 15. February 2002
sokimbrough, February 15, 2002 at 11:47:32 AM EST UTC Several Problems Described An earlier version was lost.... I recall that Berkeley wrote a treatise on ethics, but left the one copy of the manuscript in a coach in Italty and never recovered it. He "didn't have the heart" to start over again. Perhaps we're all better off anyway. [The individual points have been moved to Suggestion: These three problems have a common solution. (Nothing is ever a total solution, just a significant partial solution is all I'm after.) ... Link ... Next page
